Local Locations

The Ivy Cafe in Blackheath - a favourite restaurant to visit.  An art deco interior, offering traditional British dining from breakfast through dinner & cocktails. 0nline booking essential.  

The Guildford Arms in Greenwich - A good local gastropub, relaxed local eating and drinking spot with a great sunken garden. They offer a seasonal menu with local ingredients. Online booking advised.

The Cutty Sark Pub in Greenwich - Historical riverside pub with river views, that’s 200 years old.  Be sure to ask for a table upstairs with a sunset view over the river.

The Old Brewery in Greenwich - Situated in the heart of the Old Navy College, just a 2 minutes’ walk from the Cutty Sark. They have a large outdoor seating area - so perfect for sipping cocktails or locally brewed craft bears on a hot’s summers day. They serve brunch, lunch and dinner.

The Green Goddess - recently opened contemporary microbrewery, offers a wonderful selection of local Beers and Ciders.

Two Excellent local artisan bakeries are 

Boulangerie Jade serves hot breakfasts and food throughout the day. Pastries, cakes, biscuits, bread, savoury items, and quality coffee are abundant.

Brother’s Bakery also offers fabulous food and hot drinks.

Within Reach

The Gun at Canary Wharf - a fantastic gastro pub serving seasonal dishes. They have a great enclosed balcony that overlooks the river. Online booking is essential.  

Greenwich is beautiful and has plenty of food options.

O2 Arena – Walk or Hop on the bus for fast food joints. To digest your meal, why not take the Emirates Cable Car across the River Thames !!!

Street Food & Markets

Greenwich Market has a wonderful selection of international street food as well as a large number of excellent restaurants.

Blackheath Farmers Market showcases farmers from surrounding areas and the countryside. Every Sunday morning, large vans descend into Blackheath and bring a wonderful array of fresh local produce and organic foods in season to spoil us city folk!

The iconic Borough Market is an obvious visit for any foodie. It’s located at London Bridge (four short stops on the train ) and has some of the very finest stalls and eateries in the country.

General Shopping

The main grocery store, Marks and Spencer’s is within walking distance. There is also a very stocked International Supermarket within 300 meters.

Within a kilometer, you will arrive at Tazaki, a Japanese and oriental supermarket.

Larger stores are Sainsbury’s (open 24 hours) M&S, ASDA, ALDI, LIDL, and IKEA. It will take you 15 minutes to walk. Free parking is also available.

The world-famous Billingsgate Fish Market takes 10 minutes by car. It’s open between 4am-8am and the atmosphere is amazing. Join the top London chefs who compete for the best catch of the day from International waters and the North Sea.
